Please ensure you read our Guide To A HopScotch Holiday - HERE as it gives you all the information you need for your stay at Ardvullin. However, here’s a quick run through of some of the questions you may have:
How much will the holiday cost?
HopScotch breaks are free to all children.
Where will my child be staying?
Your child will be staying at Ardvullin, a lovely converted Victorian house which we have been using as our respite break centre since HopScotch Children’s Charity began back in 1998. Ardvullin is on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, a very short ferry-ride across Loch Linnhe in the Scottish Highlands. It’s about 8 miles from Fort William.
Who is going to be looking after my child whilst they are on a HopScotch break?
Your child will be coming as part of a group of children who will be brought by at least 3 workers from the organisation who applied for them to have a HopScotch break. They will already know your child, and they will be responsible for your child’s welfare whilst they are away from home. In addition, HopScotch Children’s Charity has it’s own project worker, Our Project Worker, who lives on site at our respite break centre. Our Project Worker will work closely with the children throughout the week too, it is their job to ensure the children have a wonderful time and to support them as they experience new things.
What does my child need to take with them?
You will received detailed information about this nearer the time, but don’t worry if you don’t have everything. HopScotch keeps some outdoor wear at Ardvullin for the children to use, and we ensure they have all the appropriate clothing and safety equipment for every activity they will take part in. Just get in touch if you have more questions about this.
Do they need pocket money?
We recommend that each child has no more than £5 pocket money but please check this with the group/organisation bringing your children on their HopScotch break as some groups prefer children not to bring any pocket money.
